Please note – amber is a totally organic material – it’s the fossilized resin from ancient (prehistoric) pine trees and other conifers.  This resin was originally secreted to heal a wound to the tree.   The resin took millions of years under heat and pressure to become the hard gemstone we call amber.  Amber is the lightest of all gems and will float in water.   It is also a soft gemstone and requires care – it scratches easily and can be damaged by chemicals
