Copper Jewelry Designs

Over the summer, I started working on a series of flower designs in copper as prototypes for some planned silver pieces.   However, I think that I like the look of the copper enough to also do a series of designs … Continue reading

Getting Back to Work

I’ve been surprised at how long it is taking to get everything set up again after our recent move.  We are making progress – I’m working on some flower pieces in copper, trying out some new (to me) techniques and approaches.

We have just gotten the photography “studio” put together again and are beginning to catch up on much needed pictures of “new” vintage pieces and some of my jewelry.

I’d like to share what I’m currently working on with you.  The photos here are the copper prototypes that will eventually become sterling silver designs.     I created a three-part flower design recently (shown on the right) and I’m working on a couple of variations – a pendant and also a brooch. First the design is transferred to the copper sheet and cut out.   The petals are shaped and textured individually.   In addition, I cut a back plate with an attached tab that becomes the bail and a circle of little “prongs” that are cut out the make the center of the flower.

All that’s left is to assemble the parts and rivet them together.   The finished pendant is shown above on the right. The next step – create a hammered necklace for the pendant. This is a preview – I’m working up another article that will show all the steps in more detail with better photos.

Lots of new items are shown on my website and in my Etsy store and I’m doing custom work again.    Gemstone drop earrings shown are available in a variety of stones and different styles – rose quartz, black onyx, smokey quartz, lapis lazuli, labradorite, moonstone, and citrine.   Please remember that any of my dangle earring styles can be ordered as clip style earrings – just email me and I’ll make the adjustment for you.

Vintage is Hot!!  I sell a lot of Vintage jewelry from my website vintage section
